Kia EV4 Named Best Medium Car at The Car Expert Awards 2026

By David Lewis | 16 December 2025

The new Kia EV4 has been named Best Medium Car for 2026 at The Car Expert Awards, marking another major award win for Kia’s growing electric line-up.

The award recognises the EV4 as the strongest overall performer in its class, based on reviews from leading UK motoring publications. It is Kia’s first electric hatchback and saloon, opening the brand up to two new market segments.

Recognition from UK motoring experts

The Car Expert Awards are calculated using the Expert Rating Index, which brings together reviews from 35 respected UK motoring titles. Each vehicle is scored using an aggregated rating system, reflecting broad consensus rather than individual opinion.

The EV4 stood out in the medium car category for its design, comfort and overall driving experience. It is offered in two body styles, a five-door hatchback and a four-door Fastback saloon.

What impressed the judges

Stuart Masson, Editorial Director at The Car Expert, said the EV4 brings fresh thinking to a segment dominated by SUVs. He highlighted its striking design, strong technology offering and comfortable ride.

He added that the EV4 delivers confident driving dynamics and provides buyers with a genuine alternative to crossovers, helping Kia strengthen its position as a leader in electric vehicles.

Range, choice and everyday usability

Thanks to its streamlined shape, the Kia EV4 offers the longest driving range of any Kia electric model to date, with up to 388 miles on a single charge in Air specification with the 81.4kWh battery.

In the UK, the EV4 range is offered in three clearly defined trims, Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. Each comes well equipped as standard, making it easy for customers to choose the version that suits their needs.

Another strong year for Kia electric cars

The EV4 joins a growing list of award-winning Kia electric vehicles. At last year’s Car Expert Awards, the EV9 was named Best Premium Large Car, while the EV3 won Best Small Crossover and overall Car of the Year.

Looking ahead to 2026, Kia will continue to expand its electric range. The all-new EV2 is due to be unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show on 9 January, alongside new GT versions of the EV3, EV4 and EV5.

For drivers across Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley and the wider Midlands, the Kia EV4 offers a new electric option that combines long range, everyday practicality and award-winning design.
