Volvo Workshop Controller/Andon - TMS Volvo Hinckley

As a multi-award winning family owned business, TMS Motor Group is seeking a driven, technically capable Andon to join our busy Service Department at our Hinckley Volvo dealership. This is a key leadership role within the workshop, ideal for an experienced Vehicle Technician or Workshop Controller who thrives on improving performance, developing people, and driving efficiency through structure and data. As Andon, you will act as the first line of support within the workshop, ensuring smooth daily operations, strong team performance, and an exceptional customer experience. Your focus is support, flow, coaching, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• · Support Personal Service Technicians (PSTs) with technical, administrative, and workflow challenges
• · Lead daily workshop meetings and ensure adherence to the agreed production plan.
• · Monitor and visualise KPIs using the workshop Visual Planning Board.
• · Identify root causes of performance deviations and coordinate improvement actions
• · Pre-check daily planning to anticipate resourcing or timing issues
• · Step in to balance workload or take over jobs where required to protect the customer experience.
• · Coach and develop PSTs, encouraging ownership, accountability, and high standards
• · Coordinate and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
• · Act as the link between workshop, parts, and sales to maintain transparency and efficiency.

• · NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Repair & Maintenance (or equivalent) – essential
• · Background as a Vehicle Technician or Workshop Controller
• · Strong coaching and leadership skills with a people-first mindset
• · Data-driven, analytical, and improvement-focused
• · Confident communicator who builds trust, accountability, and engagement
• · Organised, proactive, and able to lead by example
• · Full UK driving licence
