The Kia PV5 is the top-selling electric small van in Europe for the first six months of the year
The Kia PV5 van has quickly become the most popular electric-light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) in Europe, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).* Sales of electrically-chargeable vans in Europe increased by 37.5%, year-on-year, capturing a 13.9% market share, up from 10.2% in the first half of 2025.
PV5 reaches 13,116 sales and 37% C-segment share
In the first six months of the year, the PV5 sold 13,116 units**, placing it as the top-selling electric van in the highly competitive European C-segment (small van market in the UK).
Available as Cargo, Passenger and Chassis variants for businesses and private customers, the PV5 accounted for an impressive 37% of all electric vans sold in the C-segment in Europe, and was number one in 12 countries, including the UK (3,361 units) and Germany (2,206 units). Across all engine types, the PV5 was the best-selling van in Denmark (1,222 units), the Netherlands (1,196 units), Norway (739 units) and Sweden (1,414 units).
“The customer response to the introduction of the PV5 in Europe has been overwhelming, not just in terms of the number of vehicles sold, but with how the PV5 is adding new value across mobility, business use and specialised transportation,” said Sjoerd Knipping, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Europe. “The Kia PBV strategy goes beyond the vehicle itself, with a fully integrated ecosystem that combines software, services, ownership and flexibility, supported by a dedicated service network.
Europe’s top small electric van
Designed from the ground up as an electric commercial vehicle on Kia’s E-GMP.S platform, the PV5 line-up prioritises usability and efficiency in real operating conditions. In the first six months of the year, customers have been greatly impressed by the tight turning radius that is ideal for urban environments, the low cargo loading height that reduces operator strain and the modular body architecture that simplifies repairs.
On entering the European market, the PV5 has proven a winner in the electric C-segment, achieving a market share above 50% in five countries through the first half of 2026 (63% in Denmark, 62% in Ireland, 59% in Sweden, 58% in Finland and 54% in the UK) and above 20% in an additional 14 countries.
The PV5 Cargo has already received major industry recognition, including the International Van of the Year 2026, while the PV5 Passenger was named ‘Family Car of the Year’ at the BBC TopGear.com Awards 2026.
The PV5 Cargo demonstrated its efficiency capabilities by covering 693.38km (430.84 miles) on a single charge, setting a new Guinness World Record. Additionally, the PV5 Passenger exceeded its WLTP range during the El Prix test in Norway, achieving 420km (260 miles) in the world’s largest independent EV test. The PV5 is also available as a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) with side entry, while the Passenger variant has expanded to include a 7-seat configuration.
The Kia PBV mobility ecosystem
With the PBV, Kia is going beyond automotive to build a scalable business framework for commercial mobility that is more flexible, more connected and more relevant to the needs of customers. Kia plans to expand its PBV strategy with the PV7 in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029, establishing a complete PBV line-up. Through more than 40 different body types, the company will deliver highly customisable mobility solutions tailored to diverse customer and business requirements.
