Volvo has unveiled the new all-electric EX60, a mid-size SUV designed to remove the remaining barriers to going electric, with class-leading range, ultra-fast charging and next-generation safety technology.
The five-seat Volvo EX60 enters the largest global electric vehicle segment and marks a major step forward for the brand. It combines long-distance capability, rapid charging and a new digital experience aimed at everyday family use.
The EX60 offers a class-leading driving range of up to 503 miles in its all-wheel drive configuration. This makes it the longest-range electric Volvo to date and places it ahead of many newly revealed competitors in the same segment.
Charging performance is equally impressive. Using a 400kW fast charger, the EX60 can add up to 211 miles of range in just ten minutes, making longer journeys and quick top-ups far more convenient.
Volvo says the combination of range and charging speed helps turn range anxiety into range comfort, allowing electric driving to fit naturally into everyday life.
The EX60 is built on Volvo Cars’ new SPA3 electric architecture and powered by HuginCore, the brand’s core computing system. Technologies such as cell-to-body battery integration, mega casting and new in-house electric motors improve efficiency while reducing weight.
These advances also contribute to the EX60 achieving Volvo’s lowest carbon footprint for a fully electric model, matching that of the smaller Volvo EX30.
Design-wise, the EX60 builds on Volvo’s Scandinavian design principles with a clean, confident exterior shaped for efficiency. A low front, sloping roofline and tapered sides help achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.26.
Inside, the long wheelbase and flat floor create generous rear legroom, a large boot and multiple smart storage solutions, making the EX60 well suited to family life. Images showing the intelligent storage areas highlight how Volvo has focused on real-world practicality.
Music lovers can opt for a 28-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system, which includes headrest speakers in all four main seats. The EX60 is also the first Volvo to feature Apple Music with Dolby Atmos as standard.
The EX60 is Volvo’s most intelligent car to date and the first to launch with Google’s Gemini AI assistant. Drivers can interact with the car using natural speech, without needing to remember set voice commands.
The system is deeply integrated with the vehicle, allowing hands-free control while keeping attention focused on the road. The responsive infotainment system delivers fast screen reactions, instant map loading and smoother overall performance.
Safety remains central to the EX60. Powered by HuginCore and a wide array of sensors, the car continuously monitors its surroundings to support advanced driver assistance systems.
The EX60 introduces Volvo’s multi-adaptive safety belt, which adjusts protection based on occupant and situation. A reinforced safety cage using boron steel further strengthens occupant protection.
Over-the-air updates ensure the EX60 continues to improve over time, adding new features and enhancements throughout ownership.
The Volvo EX60 is now available to order in European markets, with production starting this spring in Sweden. UK customer deliveries of selected variants will begin later this year.
Drivers across Leicester, Coventry and Hinckley interested in Volvo’s next-generation electric SUVs can explore the EX60 alongside models such as the Volvo EX90 and the wider Volvo electric range at TMS Volvo.
