Kia has revealed the new EV2, a compact electric SUV built in Europe and designed to make electric driving more accessible.
The EV2 is Kia’s smallest electric SUV to date and will become the entry point into the brand’s growing EV line-up. It sits in the popular B-SUV segment and is aimed at drivers looking for everyday usability in a compact electric car.
The new model follows Kia’s recent electric launches, including the Kia EV3, EV4, EV6 and EV9, bringing the same technology and safety focus into a smaller, more affordable format.
At around four metres long, the EV2 has been designed for urban driving while still offering the space needed for family life. A long wheelbase allows for flexible seating layouts, with customers able to choose between four or five seats.
The sliding and reclining rear seats help maximise interior space. When fully slid forward, the EV2 offers up to 403 litres of boot space, along with a 15-litre front storage compartment.
The EV2 will be offered with two battery options. A 42.2kWh standard-range battery delivers an anticipated range of up to 317 kilometres (195 miles), while a larger 61.0kWh battery extends this to up to 448 kilometres (274 miles), subject to WLTP confirmation.
Both versions support rapid DC charging, with a 10% to 80% charge taking around 29 to 30 minutes. For the first time at launch in a Kia model, the EV2 supports both 11kW and 22kW AC charging, making home and public charging more flexible.
Inside, the EV2 features Kia’s latest triple-screen infotainment layout, combining a digital driver display, climate control screen and central touchscreen. A lower-cost ccNC Lite system will also be available, offering the same core features.
Connectivity includes over-the-air updates, Kia Upgrades, full app integration and digital key functionality. Upper-segment safety systems are also available, including Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control 2 and advanced parking assistance.
The EV2 will be built at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, alongside the EV4. Production of the standard-range model is scheduled to begin in February 2026, with long-range and GT-Line versions following later in the year.
Kia says the EV2 has been developed specifically with European driving habits in mind, combining compact exterior dimensions with interior space comparable to larger vehicles.
For drivers in Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley and across the Midlands, the EV2 is expected to offer a practical electric option suited to city driving, commuting and everyday family use.
Full UK pricing and on-sale dates will be confirmed closer to launch. Customers interested in Kia’s electric range can already explore models such as the EV3 and EV4 at TMS Kia dealerships.
