Kia UK has been named ‘EV Brand of the Year’ and the Kia PV5 Cargo ‘EV Van of the Year’ at the Electrifying.com EV Awards 2026.
The Electrifying.com EV Awards are judged by the website’s expert team of road testers, with awards given to the most significant electric vehicles and innovations from the last 12 months. The Kia PV5 Cargo follows in the footsteps of its smaller passenger car sibling, the EV3, which was crowned ‘Car of the Year’ at last year’s awards.
The PV5 Cargo simplifies the buying process with two trim levels: entry-level ‘Essential’ and range-topping ‘Plus’, with a choice of a standard-range 51.5kWh or long-range 71.2kWh battery pack. The Electrifying.com team praised its design, versatility, and affordability, with a low starting price of £27,645 (+VAT).
Ginny Buckley, Editor-in-Chief at Electrifying.com commented on the PV5 win: "The Kia PV5 Cargo feels like a proper turning point for electric vans. The brand’s EV know-how from the car world has clearly carried over – this is a van that’s great to drive, smartly designed and built to a high standard. We love the modular platform and dedicated factory approach, which cuts out the waste and compromise that so often comes with traditional van conversions. Add in sharp looks and, crucially, an affordable price, and the PV5 Cargo makes electric van ownership feel genuinely attainable. A very deserving Van of the Year."
Kia UK continues to lead the UK’s electrification journey with a diverse line-up including the EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9, and the forthcoming EV2 in 2026. The brand combines award-winning design and advanced technology, delivering long ranges and fast charging, whilst maintaining its hard-won reputation for affordability and reliability.
With Kia named ‘EV Brand of the Year’, Ginny Buckley commented: "Kia’s EV line-up is impressive in its sheer breadth, from the seven-seat EV9 to the forthcoming EV2, plus performance-focused GT models and everything in between. But what truly resonates with us is Kia’s leap into electric commercial vehicles with the PV5. It’s brilliantly executed, competitively priced, and crucially designed from the start to be wheelchair accessible. That kind of inclusive, real-world thinking shows Kia isn’t just building EVs - it’s making electric mobility available to an underserved car buyer. Kia has nailed the brief: an EV for everyone. A very deserving EV Brand of the Year."
Paul Philpott, President & CEO, Kia UK Limited commented: "Being named winner of these two major awards is an exceptional double honour, particularly from the well-recognised team at Electrifying.com, with their extensive knowledge of the EV landscape and understanding of what customers really want."
Collecting ‘EV Brand of the Year’, and the PV5 Cargo being named ‘EV Van of the Year’, reflects the breadth and quality of our electric lineup, from accessible passenger vehicles such as the award-winning EV3 and EV9 through to our new line of purpose-built commercial vehicles. These models are paired with our commitment to making electric mobility reliable and attainable for as many people as possible, supported by an expert nationwide dealer network.”
Further PV5 variants will arrive next year, including larger and smaller PV5 Cargo configurations. Down the line, Kia has no intention of slowing down, with the PV7 arriving in 2027 and the PV9 in 2029.
The Kia PV5 Cargo and Passenger are available to order now from Kia’s network of PBV Centres.
