Kia PV5 Cargo Awarded Top Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating for 2025

By David Lewis | 10 December 2025

The all-electric Kia PV5 Cargo has achieved the maximum five-star rating in the 2025 Euro NCAP Commercial Van Safety assessment, confirming its position as one of Europe’s safest commercial vehicles.

The announcement marks a major milestone for Kia’s growing PBV lineup and reinforces the PV5 Cargo’s appeal for businesses looking for dependable, efficient and safety-focused electric vans.

Strong Scores Across Every Safety Category

Euro NCAP reported that the PV5 Cargo delivered a strong performance across all tested areas.

Results included:

  • 75 percent for Occupant Protection
  • 80 percent for Safety Assist and Crash Avoidance
  • 80 percent for Post-Crash Safety

These results place the PV5 Cargo among the leading commercial vans in Europe for safety performance, continuing Kia’s recent success following the EV6, EV9 and EV3, which also earned top Euro NCAP ratings in previous years.

Advanced Safety Technology as Standard

The PV5 Cargo features a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance technologies designed to support drivers in busy urban and motorway environments.

Euro NCAP praised the performance of several key systems, including:

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

  • Detects vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists
  • Delivers strong responsiveness at higher speeds
  • Avoided collisions in most pedestrian and cyclist scenarios

Lane Support System (LSS)

  • Provides gentle guidance to keep the vehicle centred
  • Applies firm intervention when required
  • Rated “good” by Euro NCAP
Speed Assistance System (SAS)
  • Combines map data with a forward-facing camera
  • Identifies local speed limits
  • Gives clear information to help drivers maintain safe speeds

A seatbelt reminder system for both front seats is also fitted as standard, supporting safe driving habits throughout the working day.

Built on Kia’s Latest Safety Engineering

The PV5’s five-star result reflects the strength of Kia’s dedicated PBV platform, which uses high-rigidity materials and advanced engineering to optimise crash protection. Practical packaging and battery placement also contribute to occupant safety and structural stability.

Combined with its wide range of ADAS features, the PV5 Cargo sets a high benchmark for safety in the commercial EV segment.

Global Recognition Continues to Grow

The Euro NCAP award follows a string of major international honours for the PV5 range.

In November, the PV5 Cargo won the 2026 International Van of the Year (IVOTY) award at the Solutrans commercial vehicle show in Lyon. Shortly after, the PV5 Passenger was named Family Car of the Year at the BBC TopGear.com Awards 2026.

These accolades highlight the PV5’s global strengths in safety, versatility and customer value across both commercial and passenger sectors.
