The Kia EV4 has been named Best Family Car at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2026, placing it in contention for the overall UK Car of the Year title.
The award recognises the EV4 as one of the best new electric family cars available to UK buyers. The overall UK Car of the Year winner will be announced on 26 February.
The UK Car of the Year Awards panel selected the EV4 as the leading family car in its category, highlighting its balance of everyday usability, efficiency and value.
The win follows further industry recognition for the EV4, including Electric Car of the Year at the News UK Motor Awards and Best Medium Car at The Car Expert Awards 2026.
John Challen, UK Car of the Year Editor, said the EV4 stood out for offering a credible alternative to electric SUVs while retaining strong practicality for family use.
The Kia EV4 is available as both a hatchback and fastback, making it the brand’s first fully electric family car offered in two body styles.
Buyers can choose between two battery options, 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh, with the most efficient version offering up to 388 miles of driving range on the WLTP combined cycle.
When connected to a 150kW DC fast charger, the EV4 can recharge from 10 to 80% in around 29 minutes, supporting longer journeys and busy family schedules.
Inside, the EV4 offers a spacious cabin and flexible boot space. Luggage capacity stands at 435 litres in the hatchback and 490 litres in the EV4 Fastback, suitable for prams, sports equipment and holiday luggage.
Safety is a key focus, with the EV4 recently achieving a five-star Euro NCAP rating. The model scored 84 percent for adult occupant protection and 85 percent for child occupant safety.
The Kia EV4 is priced from £34,745 on the road. Selected versions are eligible for the £1,500 UK Electric Car Grant, including the EV4 Air across both battery options.
The EV4 sits within Kia’s growing electric line-up, alongside the EV3, EV5, EV6 and EV9, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to accessible electric mobility.
For drivers across Leicester, Hinckley, Loughborough and the wider Midlands, the award confirms the EV4 as a practical and well-supported electric option for family motoring.
