Kia EV4 Awarded Five Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

The new Kia EV4 has achieved the highest possible five star safety rating following testing by Euro NCAP, Europe’s leading independent vehicle safety authority.

The result applies to both the Kia EV4 hatchback and EV4 Fastback models. It confirms strong safety performance across a range of real-world driving scenarios.

Strong performance across safety categories

During testing, the Kia EV4 scored highly in all four Euro NCAP assessment areas. Results included 84 percent for adult occupant protection and 85 percent for child occupant protection.

The model also achieved 77 percent for vulnerable road user protection, covering pedestrians and cyclists, and 78 percent in the Safety Assist category.

Euro NCAP reported that the EV4 maintained a stable passenger compartment in frontal impact tests. It also achieved maximum points in side-impact assessments.

Protection for passengers and other road users

Test results showed strong protection for children, with the EV4 supporting a full range of child seat installations. Euro NCAP also noted good head, leg and pelvis protection around the front of the vehicle.

The EV4’s autonomous emergency braking system responded effectively to cyclists and motorcyclists, helping to reduce the risk of collisions in urban driving conditions.

Built in Europe for European roads

The Kia EV4 is the brand’s first fully electric model manufactured in Europe. It is built at Kia’s production facility in Slovakia and developed with European drivers in mind.

Based on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform, the EV4 offers driving ranges of up to 388 miles for the hatchback and up to 380 miles for the Fastback version. Two battery options are available, 58.3kWh and 81.4kWh.

Fast charging allows the battery to be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in around 31 minutes.

Shortlisted for 2026 Car of the Year

The Euro NCAP result comes as the EV4 is also shortlisted for the 2026 Car of the Year award. The model is one of seven finalists selected by a panel of 60 motoring journalists from 23 countries.

This marks Kia’s fifth consecutive appearance on the Car of the Year shortlist, following previous nominations for the EV5, EV3 and other recent models.

For drivers in Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley and across the Midlands, the Kia EV4 offers an electric option that combines long range, everyday usability and proven safety credentials.
