Kia EV3 Named Compact Crossover and Small SUV of the Year at Scottish Car of the Year Awards

The all-electric Kia EV3 has been named Compact Crossover and Small SUV of the Year at the 2025 Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

The award was announced at the annual ceremony held at the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club in Edinburgh. The judges from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers recognised the EV3 for its range, performance and everyday usability.

A Strong Year for the Award-Winning EV3

More than a year after its UK launch, the EV3 continues to stand out in the compact crossover market. It remains one of Kia’s most popular models of the year, sitting just behind the Sportage and Picanto in national sales.

The EV3 offers a driving range of up to around 375 miles, depending on specification. Its design combines long-distance capability with space that suits families and everyday drivers.

Range, Space and Modern Electric Design

The EV3 sits on Kia’s electric-Global Modular Platform, which allows for a completely flat floor. This boosts cabin space and creates a roomy layout for passengers in every seat. Battery options include a 58.3kWh pack or a larger 81.4kWh version, both positioned beneath the cabin for improved comfort and balance.

Judges praised the EV3 for its strong range, practical layout and confident performance on the road. They said the EV3 delivers capabilities normally found in larger electric SUVs, but in a more compact and affordable package.

A Busy Year for Kia’s Electric Line-Up

The win comes during one of Kia’s busiest years for new models. Alongside the EV3, the brand has introduced the EV4, EV4 Fastback, EV5 and its first Purpose Built Vehicle, the PV5. Updated versions of the Sportage, Stonic and the all-new K4 are also on their way to UK customers.

Kia continues to perform strongly in the UK market. The brand is currently the fourth best-selling manufacturer of the year with more than 103,000 cars sold. In Scotland, Kia holds a 6.8 per cent market share, with the Sportage remaining the country’s best-selling SUV.
