Kia has collected two major prizes at the 2025 News UK Motor Awards, with the new EV4 named ‘Electric Car of the Year’ and the PV5 Cargo voted ‘The Sun Van of the Year’.
The honours mark the first UK award wins for both models since arriving in showrooms earlier this year. Judges from The Sun and The Times praised Kia for delivering affordable, practical and stylish options in both the family car and van markets.
The Kia EV4 is the brand’s newest all-electric hatchback, offering up to 391 miles on a single charge and a starting price of £34,695. Designed for families, it combines a spacious interior with modern technology, while continuing Kia’s reputation for long-range, reliable electric cars. The EV4 follows on from the success of the smaller EV3, which was crowned World Car of the Year in 2024.
The Kia PV5 Cargo is the company’s first fully electric van, aimed at businesses and tradespeople looking to cut running costs and emissions. With a range of up to 258 miles per charge, it is built to handle day-to-day commercial use while keeping ownership costs low. Its debut win as ‘Van of the Year’ highlights Kia’s growing presence in the light commercial vehicle sector.
Rob Gill, Motoring Editor at The Sun, described the EV4 as “a hugely impressive five-door hatchback with long-range batteries, spacious cabins and slick in-car tech.” He also praised the PV5 Cargo as “a brilliant first effort at a shockingly good price” that would help tradespeople save money.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, said: “These high-profile awards come at an important time for Kia UK, as we introduce new fully electric products into more market segments. It’s pleasing to see such high praise as sales momentum continues.”
Kia’s double win follows last year’s success when the Kia Picanto and Kia EV3 both picked up category honours at the same event.
