The Motability Scheme allows eligible people with a disability to lease a brand-new car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter, or powered wheelchair in exchange for their mobility allowance.

You may be eligible if you receive a qualifying mobility allowance, such as the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement.

The package is worry-free. It includes insurance for up to three named drivers, servicing, MOT, maintenance, RAC breakdown cover, tyre replacement, and even windscreen repairs.

Yes, many adaptations are available to make driving or travelling easier, and in most cases, these can be fitted at no extra cost when you order your vehicle.

Most Motability car leases run for three years, while Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) are usually leased for five years.

Yes. From 25 November 2025, several premium car brands were removed from the Motability scheme, including BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Alfa Romeo. Coupes and convertibles from all manufacturers were also withdrawn.

Kia and Volvo remain fully approved Motability manufacturers.
