Kia PBV, short for Platform Beyond Vehicle, is Kia’s next-generation electric vehicle platform designed to go beyond traditional vans and people carriers.

Combining 100 percent electric power with advanced software, smart connectivity, and flexible vehicle architecture, Kia PBVs are built to support modern businesses, cities, and mobility services.

Rather than simply transporting people or goods, Kia PBVs are designed as total mobility solutions. Modular design, connected services, and scalable technology allow each vehicle to adapt to different uses, delivering smarter use of space, high levels of customisation, and seamless digital integration for both commercial and personal applications.

Electric Performance That Works for Business

Kia PBV EV technology is engineered to keep businesses moving. Models such as the Kia PV5 feature DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes, helping reduce downtime during busy working days.

Optional 22kW AC charging supports flexible workplace and depot charging, while access to the Ionity ultra-rapid charging network and Plug and Charge functionality makes public charging simple and seamless.

Practical design plays a key role in daily efficiency. Outstanding load volume and a low step height help improve delivery speed and safety, particularly in stop start urban environments.

Kia PBVs also feature Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, turning the vehicle into a mobile power source. This allows tools, equipment, lighting, or digital displays to be powered directly from the vehicle, ideal for mobile businesses, on-site work, and portable retail concepts.

Smart Software and Lower Running Costs

Every Kia PBV is software-driven, designed to help businesses reduce costs and improve efficiency. The integrated Fleet Management System (FMS) connects real-time vehicle data to a cloud-based AI platform, allowing fleets to monitor performance and optimise Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Over-the-air software updates and remote diagnostics support predictive maintenance, helping reduce downtime and unexpected repair costs. Inside the vehicle, the smart In-Vehicle Infotainment system adapts to the driver, route, and task, automatically loading profiles and preferences.

Future Kia PBVs will also support Android OS app access and AI-powered voice control, giving drivers hands-free access to navigation, scheduling, and business tools.

Future Mobility and Autonomous Technology

Kia PBV technology forms part of a wider future mobility ecosystem. Dedicated PBV production is underway at Kia’s Hwaseong EVO Plant, supporting the shift toward software-defined electric commercial vehicles.

Looking ahead, PBVs will evolve into AI-driven mobility platforms with integration into smart city infrastructure. Kia is aligning PBV development with robotics, autonomous driving, and advanced mobility technologies, with progress toward Level 4 autonomous driving beginning with PV5-based concepts.

Designed to be connected, intelligent, and adaptable, Kia PBVs represent the future of electric commercial mobility.
