The new Volvo S60 is the sport saloon that rewrites the driving story.
Effortless performance meets intuitive technology, while a sophisticated chassis balances comfort and control. And a choice of driving modes puts you at the centre of a dynamic experience.
The interior is tailored around your needs – a place where connected, easy-to-use technology combines with the wellbeing that only human-centric innovation and elegant Scandinavian design can provide.
The new S60 celebrates the joy of driving through design. Sculpted sides, a sleek profile and muscular shoulders above the rear wheels highlight the car’s athletic character. Scandinavian elegance and dynamic attitude combine to give it a purposeful, focused presence. It is a car that confidently communicates its ability on the road.
The new S60 inspires you to drive, with a chassis that strikes a balance between comfort and control. Precise, responsive steering creates a feeling of connection to the road. Double wishbone front suspension and Volvo Cars’ innovative integral rear suspension help to provide sharp handling and keep weight to a minimum, for maximum agility.
The innovative engines available for the new S60 balance strong performance with low emissions and fuel consumption, so you can enjoy the feeling of power, responsibly. Each is a four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged for maximum responsiveness. The T6 engine also has a supercharger, for even stronger low-rev responses. Power is sent through smooth-shifting transmissions – an 8-speed Geartronic automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddles on the R-Design variants, or a six-speed manual gearbox.
A centre display with touch screen is the effortless way that you connect with the new S60. It has a portrait format that makes reading information easy and reduces scrolling, while the 9-inch screen has a special non-reflective coating and is so responsive you can even use it while wearing gloves.
Bowers & Wilkins audio is the top-level sound system for the new S60. Total output is 1100 watts to 15 speakers, while three different room modes – Studio, Individual Stage and Gothenburg Concert Hall – allow you to tailor the sound to your music or mood. Details such as stainless steel speaker panels, Bowers & Wilkins logos and distinctive yellow speaker cones create an exclusive visual impression. The system features a unique air-ventilated subwoofer that is built into the body of the car to create precise, powerful bass tones.
Smart technology and seamless smartphone integration lets you effortlessly enjoy your favourite music and podcasts in the new S60. The integrated Spotify app means there’s no need to connect your phone. Support for Apple CarPlay allows you to link an Apple iPhone, while Android Auto is also supported. The car’s intuitive centre touch screen, or simple voice control, is all you need to access a world of entertainment. The Sensus Connect package gives you access to a range of additional apps that mean you can enjoy internet radio and audiobooks in your new S60.
City Safety is a Volvo Cars innovation that helps to protect people inside and outside the new S60 by spotting potential danger and helping you avoid it. Radar and camera technology identifies other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals ahead, day or night. City Safety warns you if it detects an imminent collision and, if you don’t react in time, it can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. In the new S60, City Safety also includes Steering Support, which helps you to steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.
Pilot Assist is a support function that helps make driving in heavy traffic less tiring. This semi-autonomous drive feature builds on the active cruise control function – so as well as keeping a set speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you, it also uses steering inputs to keep you in the centre of your lane. Pilot Assist works at speeds up to 80mph, helping to reduce the effort required when driving on busy highways.
The 360˚ Camera available for the new S60 makes parking easier by showing a bird’s-eye view of your car and its immediate surroundings on the large centre display screen. It allows you to see objects or vehicles that may be hard to spot using only the windows and mirrors and is especially useful when negotiating tight spaces.
The new Volvo S60 sedan received the maximum five-star rating in its 2018 Euro NCAP safety tests, continuing a five-star streak for the Volvo line-up. The result underlines Volvo Cars' reputation for consistently putting some of the safest cars available on the road. The 2018 Euro NCAP testing regime was the toughest ever, with new and more demanding challenges on safety technology, including cyclist detection with auto-brake and emergency lane keeping systems. The Volvo S60 is among the safest cars tested under the new regime.
