Kia has today revealed UK pricing and specification information for the new Kia Sorento, the brand’s popular seven-seat SUV.
The new Sorento starts from £41,995 in the UK, £3,030 less than the current entry-level Sorento. With the updated model, Kia will offer three grades to Sorento buyers in the UK: ‘2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’. Each variant will be available with the choice of a 2.2-litre diesel, 1.6-litre turbocharged-petrol hybrid (HEV), or a 1.6-litre turbocharged-petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The HEV and PHEV Sorento variants are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT), while diesel models receive an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (8DCT).
The Kia Sorento, which celebrates its 21st birthday this year, is a consistently popular model for Kia in the UK and has helped to transform perceptions of the brand in recent years. The current fourth-generation model has been on sale since August 2020, and now benefits from a refreshed exterior and interior design, and an expanded specification line-up.
The updated Sorento sees the model take design inspiration from the brand’s all-new flagship SUV, the Kia EV9. This includes new vertical headlights and ‘star map’ daytime running lights, with redesigned alloy wheels and a new bonnet design further emphasising the Sorento’s bold, rugged appearance. The car features a redesigned gloss black radiator grille, as well as black side sill and wheel arch mouldings, giving it a distinctive stance on the road. Highlights and chrome details dotted around the exterior bring a shine to the model, and contrast the black for a premium and refined appearance.
Inside, the Sorento has been aligned with Kia’s newer SUV models, fully embracing Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. The new Sorento remains one of the best-equipped models in its segment, benefitting from several new premium features, such as fingerprint recognition, dual curved 12.3-inch displays, ambient lighting, and a customisable head-up display. The new Kia Sorento also benefits from artificial leather and recycled PET cloth throughout the cabin and upholstery, a further implication of Kia’s sustainability mission.
Regardless of trim level, the new Sorento offers an unrivalled level of equipment at each individual price point. The new line-up brings back Kia’s easy-to-understand, three-tier structure, with ‘2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’ variants.
As standard on every new Sorento, Kia offers the following highlights:
The new Sorento also continues its predecessor’s legacy as one of the safest cars in its segment, with a range of passive and active safety and security systems as standard. All Sorento models receive front centre airbags, side and curtain front airbags, all-round three-point seatbelts, impact-sensing auto door unlocking, 2nd row grab handle, ISOFIX child seat top tethers and anchor fixings in the 2nd and 3rd row, child lock, immobiliser, locking wheel nuts, a visible VIN and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system.
In the UK, a striking Mineral Blue exterior paint finish is offered as standard, with the option of five additional premium colours: White Pearl, Midnight Black and Interstellar Grey, as well as Cityscape Green (new for Sorento, and previously offered only on the Niro), and a new addition, Volcanic Sand. These premium paint finishes are available on all models for an additional £675.
The Sorento ‘2’ marks the entry-point to the model line-up. Available with diesel, HEV or PHEV power, ‘2’ models benefit from the following highlights – along with the standard equipment listed above:
Sitting at the centre of the new Sorento line-up, ‘3’ models bring an additional range of equipment and interior technology, including:
Crowning the new Sorento line-up is the ‘4’ grade, the most technologically advanced version of the model that Kia has ever offered. The Sorento ‘4’ takes all the standard equipment of a ‘3’ model, and adds the following:
